Zeobrite acts as a molecular sieve that catches the smallest irritating ammonia ions and reduces chloramines in the water that cause eye irritation and chlorine odor. Zeobrite sand filter media granules feature a larger surface area and a significantly greater internal porosity than silica sand. Zeobrite sand filter media will significantly enhance the filtration capabilities of your swimming pool sand filter, providing you with remarkably clean water.

Zeobrite sand filter media uses a naturally occurring zeobrite mineral to provide superior filtration results. While silica sand granules feature relatively smooth surfaces and do not have any internal porosity, Zeobrite filter media granules feature microscopic pockets and voids which allow the media to trap fine debris particles, much finer than those trapped by ordinary sand. Commonly used in residential swimming pools, country clubs amusement park pools, public aquariums and filtration plants.

    Troubleshooting:

Did you add half of the amount of the Zeobrite that you would have as the sand?
    – Having too much Zeobrite could cause the filter pressure to be low.

When was the last time you changed the Zeobrite?
    – If small particles are not getting caught in the Zeobrite, you may need to recharge your current Zeobrite, or change it if it has been 5 years.

    – Zeobrite should be regenerated with an eight percent sodium chloride solution or (three pounds of salt in five gallons of water) at least once per season in outdoor pools and perhaps every two to three months in indoor pools, when chloramines (combined chlorine) levels rise to unacceptable levels. Regeneration of the media bed can be performed with rock salt, water softening salt or table salt.
